The term “get a nose job” is a frequently cited one in plastic surgery communities and many individuals that dream of being in the cinema or model photography. However, what most individuals that long for a straighter perfected nose don’t understand is that there is a very real chance of revision rhinoplasty being required once the swelling goes down and the bandages come off.
Cosmetic surgery is an art as much as it is a medical science. No one would want to pay for a sculpture made by an incompetent artist. Unfortunately many do not understand that a cosmetic surgeon has to be such an artist as well to make certain the nose formed under their skillful craftsmanship is both proportional and properly aligned.
Revision rhinoplasty occurs when the first nose job is not done to the satisfaction of the patient. This will cost just as much as the original surgery and in some cases it won’t fix the problem or it might cause a different imperfection. This could lead to yet another revision surgery.
The risks of revision rhinoplasty are exactly the same as the original surgery. Swelling, bruising, infection, and in the case of an incompetent or careless black market surgeon this could lead to destruction of the nose and forced nasal reconstruction. This latter problem as well as the risk of infection are one of the main reasons to steer clear of low budget backdoor and blackmarket doctors.
However, nose cosmetic surgery of this type usually leads to nothing more than correcting whatever issue was determined to be present. The same open and closed procedures used during the original surgery are used and the same amount of healing time is required before the bandages come off and the new results are determined.
